Root Official MR2 radio weaker than MR1?

I just flashed CM7 1.2 with the official MR2 radio installed. Last time I tried CM7 1.1 I couldnt get any 4g signal from the MR1 radio. (Yes I installed the right CM7 at the time.) I had been using tesla coil after trying out CM7 1.1 and from where I am sitting as I write this I would get 3-ish bars of 4g signal with the MR1 radio. With the official MR2 and CM7 1.2, I'm getting 1 bar of 4g strength. However, speedtest.net app still gives me speeds of anywhere between 9 to 19mbps down at 1:30 AM and about 5 up. When I last tested it around this hour, I'd always get a solid 15 down 5 up rather consistently.

So, is there even a problem here?
Is the MR2 radio strength slightly weaker than MR1, resulting in better battery life but weaker signal?
Perhaps the CM7 ROM just reads the signal strength differently than tesla coil?

id venture to guess the RIL is simply not optimized yet, there is not really a prollem with mr2. my speed tests are somewhat inconsistent as well.

just make sure when evaluating signal strength, youre not using the phone bars. they are not correctly representing your actual signal. go by speed tests, and by the signal strength in setting/about phone/status.

youll likely find that youre getting a pretty consistent signal when you watch that number. :)

What's RIL? WAit wait, it's on the HOW TO page with the terminology right? :p

oops,it is now :o

heres what i put:RIL is the Radio Interface Layer. it is basically a program between the Radio software and the ROM. It communicates with the hardware and supplies an interface for the ROM.

so basically,it connects the radio to the rom,and its been a bit of a challenge in our ROM development since we now have 2 radios for cdma/3g and for LTE. thats why the stock roms will be a lil more consistent and prolly have faster download speeds. theyve had paid programmers working on it much longer to bring us a working, useable product. for AOSP roms like cm7,this program has basically had to be written from scratch.
