PDA Net

Ok, I've been lurking for about a week on this forum....this is my first post. Does anyone know if PDA Net will work with the Nexus? I do use this app and wouldn't be able to consider a phone without it. How about the Rezound, will it work for this phone? Thanks for any answers!:)

I'm pretty sure you can use PDA net on any droid. However, rooting your phone so you can tether directly is a better option. This way you can avoid any fees your data provider might charge for tethering.

Obviously I'm missing something. I've been using PDANet and/or the Google wireless tether on the OG Droid since the beginning. Is there a magical tethering option that I'm missing that bypasses the tethering detection mechanisms?

What do you mean by rooting and tether directly?

I am rooted, on CM 6.1.2.

Thanks,
Joe

Well, I am not a tech geek so I have no clue how to root, and I have thought about it but always chicken out at the last minute.

I am not sure how pdanet really works but reading something about the nexus not having a sd card or usb mounting, I am a little concerned it may not work. I have paid the $29 for the pdanet and have used it for at least 2 years so I definitely have got my money out of it. Have it for all my computers since I live out in the country and do not get cable or dsl.

All pdanet needs is usb debugging which the gnex has(I assume, it is a developer phone after all)

I e-mailed PDA Net on this:
"I will be buying the new Galaxy Nexus when it release in the the U.S. (When ever that is! ). Do you see any any issues arising between PDANet and Android 4.0? I realize you may not have had a chance to test yet. I want your best guess."

Their reply:
"Hi

We have not tested this yet.

Not the best response, but it is what I got.

I tend to agree with Rex Dog, however.

I'm personally a fan of PDAnet, it doesn't require root and does somethings native tethering doesn't.

I hope its supported on the GN.
