[RESOLVED] htcdev.com has now released an unlockable bootloader for 2.13.401.3. If you update, you will still lose unlock and thus root, but you can get them back by going through the process at htcdev.com again.
Do not accept OTA Update 2.13.401.3 as it will revert your HBOOT version to 1.08.0000 which cannot be unlocked! Your phone will be unrooted and returned to stock status.
If your device has upgraded to 2.13.401.3 already, you have two options (1) Obtain S-OFF with an XTC Clip; (2) Follow the procedure in post #2 below by nsa1001 to revert to software version 2.13.401.2 and click the thanks button for him.
Whatever the case, be sure to block future OTA updates from HTC By going to Settings > About phone > Software updates and deselecting Scheduled check.
If you are already getting notification that 2.13.401.3 is available, do the following procedure to stop the update and block future updates:
1. Download the update to your phone.
2. When the Install system software update box comes up, DON'T CLICK "OK" OR "DISCARD"! Instead, connect the phone to your computer via USB and chose disk drive mode.
3. Run Winrar and navigate to the /sdcard/Download folder of your phone and open OTA_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3-2.13.401.2_release_237041qqcw21hxt5vkhdz6.zip.
4. Find and extract firmware.zip anywhere on your hard drive.
5. Run Winrar and open the extracted firmware.zip.
6. Click "INFO" and find the SFX label.
7. Click "Remove the already existing module from the archive" and click "OK".
8. Delete all remaining files except android-info.txt and save firmware.zip.
9. Replace the original firmware.zip in the OTA update with the one you just destroyed.
10. Disconnect the phone from your computer.
11. Back at the Install system software update box, click OK. It will now fail (yellow exclamation mark in triangle).
12. Shut down the phone, remove and replace the battery.
13. Turn the phone back on. It will report that the update file is corrupt and ask if it should download again. Click NO!
14. Reboot the phone and promptly turn off automatic updates under Settings > About phone > Software updates by deselecting Scheduled check.
