I will not do this, but it really got me thinking.

I have a maxx, I got a CLN replacement to try out for bluetooth issues. The p/n on the back of the phone is exactly the same. What if I returned a friend's razr instead? Would it get through the return system? :D

I know, ethics... ethics.... those of you thinking that, please see the first sentence of this post!

They'd check the MEID, and charge you the full $X00 price for the replacement when they see it's not the what it's supposed to be.

Actually that's what will happen if you're lucky. If you're unlucky you and for friend go to jail for attempted theft, fraud and conspiracy (plus mail fraud, wire fraud, etc).

Just asking how do you know if that is the procedure? Any proof?

Only IMEI on any paperwork is the one on the replacement.

And I'm not going to be lucky since I'm not doing it. This is a hypothetical scenario, and my old maxx will be on it's way first thing in the morning (new one doesn't have the blotches!).

Again, how do you know they check the actual IMEI of the phone? I'm not doubting this, I'm just really curious about the procedure!

^^This.

Sorry, I know you said you won't do it, but this is totally unethical and very illegal so I see little point in this thread remaining open. Feel free to drop me a PM if you've issues with that.

Thanks for understanding.
