Hey,

ok,so I got an app called ''vodafone buzz'',its an app from my carrier(vodafone) which gives me access to fb/twitter/msn/yahoo/gtalk over 3G with a monthly fee(~1USD) but the problem is that 3G charges apply right when I turn data network mode on,its because I got some messengers and viber running in the background and when I try to kill them they automatically open again.I disabled background data, still no luck.My phone is the I9100G version running on android 2.3.6.Please help asap, thanks.

If these are part of the ROM and you can't uninstall them, the only other option you have is to install some kind of firewall software from the market and block them that way.

Actually I think the OP is not complaining about the Vodafone app. Its about the other apps that will use data when you ON the data due to sync, updates, etc.... I think he is happy with the Vodafone app.

Here are a couple of suggestion. Remove the apps like the messenger and viber from your homescreen. Or get another app that can restrict the use of data for apps. Onavo have options to restrict certain apps to wi-fi only. The android market app also have that options that downloads only during wifi.

I don't use it since my data plan is 3GB a month (Was 1.5GB but upgraded for free). But it is an option if you have very limited data.

Cheers

Wow,I always thought that restricting apps from using data is possible only with rooting the phone and installing a firewall.I installed Onavo and restricted viber and all messengers I got(except ebuddy xms,it doesn't run in the background) to WiFi only, works perfectly great. Thanks bro,I owe u 1 ~!
