Root CT Mod 3.3 Very bad signal compared to any previous versions of Rom Anyone else?

Recently I moved to GA and was using CM7 b4 hf3 on my prevail. The signal was almost non-existent in the area close to Chattanooga that kinda stumped me next to a major city so I flashed to CT Mod 2.4 and got like two and three bars pretty consistent. I dont want stock rooted since it drains the battery way too fast and other reasons. So now Im back in Michigan for a week or so and I wanted to try CT Mod 3.3 so I did and now it gets 1 bar and maybe two if Im lucky. This is the order I did things. Can someone give me a little insight to to maybe something I forgot?
Currently running 2.3.6, Baseband S:M820.07 x.FA19, Kernel 2.6.35.14-Prevl-KK-2.1

running cm7 b4 hf3 (decent reception)

Get to GA cant barely get a signal

Flashed to CT 2.4 (consistent 2-3 bars)

Flashed to Stock ej06 Stock Rooted (consistent 3-4 bars)

I need the best signal for tether usage but battery life sux so flashed to CT 3.3 the other day in michigan and get barely a signal. (by a major city again though, flint)

I know theres times to wipe dalvik and things like that when flashing to something new but I dont know when to and when not to and dont really remember what calls for setting permissions and wiping dalvic. Can someone explain to me when to do this and if it is any part of the reason for the signal loss? Thanks in advance. I really enjoy messing around with these Roms and appreciate the work from the devs Hroark and Blooddawn.

I'm in Lapeer(bout 20 miles from u) and I consistently get 1-2 bars... Doesnt seem like much but it doesnt cut out or lag..... I'm out in GB fairly often as I have a friend out there, but Ive never had a problem.....
The only diff I can see is that I'm running the FA19 baseband, which is supposed 2 be worse for reception (according to other users)..

yeah it dont seem like much but what about when youre inside? Do you miss calls and stuff? Im a straight shot down I-69 from you. I miss calls and drop like crazy in GA and here. Im also running FA 19 baseband

Have yet 2 miss a call, far as I know, and I'm pretty sure I'd hear about it if I had... And only drops have been from me cheeking the end button...lol

The Gingerbread FA19 is probably the cause for signal issues, the ROMs really don't have anything to with it. Best fix seems to be changing PRL or dumping FA19

The FA19 modem has been causing problems for a lot of the people that are using it . When I flashed over from EJ06 to FA19 , I all but lost 3g and my radio signal fluctuated very badly . I ended up using Odin to install all the FA19 tar files except the phone.tar , I used the one from EJ06 rooted version . My 3g returned to normal and my radio signal quit fluctuating .

If you are having reception issues , try flashing the entire EJ06 rooted version . If you are gonna run CTmod 3.3 or CM7 you don't need to worry about getting the FA19 update because those ROMS don't get it . If you aren't gonna run one of those ROMs , I recommend installing all the FA19 tar files except the phone.tar . Use the EJ06 version for that . I can ALMOST promise you that your signal and 3g will improve . ;)

Thanks I ended up flashing back to ej06 earlier and have been getting good results since. I love cm7 but the signal issue is killing me. Im on the cm7 beta 5 right now with the maps fix and it looks good. Im happy. Might hear from me when I get back down south though. Hope not.

I dont have FA-19 anymore but dont know how to change prl either. Will that help me in GA too?

Maybe do a Google search or ask some of the people in the forum that live in that area what PRL works best . Here is a link that tells you how to change the PRL . This method works for CM7 and CTMod 3.3 . Please note that the CDMA is a trial and will run out . There is another method listed that will work too .

I drive truck over the road and have a Prevail.

I am set up using FA19 Gingerbread, CTMod3.3, KK-2.2+OC, BlueME Theme and am having no issues at all. I changed my PRL to 01115 and I am finding I get great signal on both the phone, and 3G everywhere I go. :D

That's great! I live just outside of Kansas city, been using PRL 60683 and it was phenominal until I flashed the FA19. Just switched to the new 60686 and wished I had used the DM script ended up taking like 2 hours. CWM didn't restore the kernel properly...

That has happened to me before and Boy was I pissed . LOL . Every couple of CWM backups I do now , I make 2 then delete the old ones .

I back shit up religiously. Its the first time that ever happened. I finally have a set up I'm happy with so I'm good for a while.

On a side note I always copy both my CWM and titanium backups to my PC. Had to format my SD card but didn't lose anything

How do I go about setting mine up like that? I am using the same things as you and have no signal now in our house and I use to till up dated to 3.3 and KK 2.1 and now I have a crappy signal. I know it can't be CTMod 3.3 or KK2.1 It has to be a PRL. But I am also having problems with the market not loading up or downloading anything.

If you're using FA19 and you're getting spotty signal issues, it's not CTmod.
It's FA19.
Try this: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/513141-tip-quick-baseband-switching.html

follow the instructions there to install just the phone.tar from EJ06

I was hoping you'd see this post and let me know how to do this. Oh I knopw it can't be the mod I have been using CTMod for a while now and I like it a lot along with then new theme for CTM 3.3 Hexed. Let me try this and let you know what happens.

Do think it will fix the market problem as well?

If you are running the FA19 modem ( phone.tar ) , you may get better signal by using Odin to install all of the FA19 tar files except the phone.tar . Use the one that is in the EJ06 rooted version by Chin Checka . Then set your phone back up or restore a CWM back up .

Do you have a copy of EJ06 like you said above? The link in the Odin thread is not working. This is just not my week.
