Metro pcs Optimus M Cell Phone

I know this phone is outdated and not in use much....but I recently had to replace my old Optimus M with a refurbish one...my old never gave me no probs...im trying to root this refurbish optimus m cell phone...but gingerbreak apk is not available unless you pay for it...is there any other way to root this phone without costing money and it being simple? I dont have the cd to plug in my computer to download a program to the phone..its such a decent phone...please HELP!!!

False gingerbreak is still free, you have to find it on these forums somewhere, I would link you but I'm on my phone...

But if you have android 2.2.2 then that app will not work.
