Help Battery Life

Hey guys,

I just bought my Raze Maxx two days ago, and I noticed the battery absolutey sucks. I take it to work where I literally don't touch it except to text a few times and by the time I leave at 6 p.m, it's already down to 45% battery life. Is this normal? Or should I talk to the tech guys at Verizon?

Let me know!

Thanks.
Shawna

I found that it took a few days to realize the battery's awesomesauce.

Give it a couple more days. Either you have a defective battery or you need a coulple more days.

How's your signal strength in the building? If it's weak, that's your issue. If you have WiFi or Bluetooth on and they aren't connected, that's another potential issue. It doesn't sound like it, but if you are listening to music, that could be it too. It will take a couple of days to adjust itself, but if it keeps doing it by Friday, you may have a bad battery. I swapped my phone out after about a month and I am convinced it was a bad one in the first phone.

The signal strength is pretty weak in the building - any suggestions? It seems ridiculous to me that the weak signal would eat that much of my battery up, though. And do you mean weak as in 1 or 2 bars or constantly searching for a signal?

Thanks guys!

There is your problem, particularly on 4G. I live in a 4G area but the signal is weak at my house (1-2 bars, although that isn't really a true accurate description of signal strength). If I leave it on 4G it really drains the battery fast. If I toggle to 3G I get the advertised or better battery life.

I normally just leave mine on 3G for general use as I have very fast 3G service but will toggle to 4G if I am streaming video, using Skype, etc. I work 12 hours shift in EMS, on a slow night when I am bored I am using the phone all night to combat boredom streaming Netflix, playing Temple Run, etc. I rarely go under 50% in battery level if I am on 3G.

I think in my area so many have got 4G phones that the 3G network has really had a load taken off it. I rarely switch to 4G as the 3G is plenty quick for me.

I definitely agree, give it a few days to kind of learn itself and you'll see an improvement with that alone. But also I have noticed if you can use Wi-Fi that will conserve on your battery power, or if you don't need 4G speeds for videos or Skype, drop to 3G and that will help also. I remember my first few days thought the battery life sucked and now I can't say enough good about the Maxx. :-)

if you use the app Bad Ass Battery Monitor.....you will see your average battery life will increase....mine started out at 14 hrs now it's up to 19 hrs....i went 20 hours yesterday and was at 45%..

oh yea and my wifi and blue tooth is always on

For the hell of it, turn off 4G and WiFi and let it run like that (in 3G only) for a few days and see if it makes a difference. Yea, I know, you shouldn't have to do that, but just do it and see if it makes a noticable difference.

And I text ALOT during the day

So i tried running on 3G and I do believe it's worse than yesterday. I'm now down to about 45% and it's only 4! I took it off the charger at 9.

I've have it for a week now - deffective or does it need more time?

Thanks,
Shawna

Something is definately wrong.

Have you installed the Badass Battery Monitor yet? It's nice that it'll show you what apps and everything that is draining your battery. Some apps like to run in the background regardless of being used or not. Possibly that in the building you're in and where you are, the phone, gps, etc. are all struggling for a signal, but in my experience shouldn't be that bad.

Also, have you adjusted your screen brightness and time out? That will be a big help.

What is your signal strength? At my office, reception is terrible and my battery drains like crazy. If I turn off data during the day at the office I can go days.

I'm at 12 hr 36m since I charged and I'm still at 90%. Haven't been using it a lot today, but have Wi-Fi, 4G, and GPS turned on. Have sent a few texts, checked my email 5 or 6 times, and made 3 short (<5 minutes) phone calls.
