Root how can you root the htc evo v 4g

lol bro check out the rooting guide in the stickies..not to be an ass ..may wanna do a little more searching before posting in the future

but to answer your question there is currently only one way to root the v..

its not hard to do if you follow the OP's directions to the T

It is.hard lol I got stuck on SDK tools part when I put fastboot on the commands it doesn't show what the guide showing and I was keep trying it and it still doesn't work and that is very complicated hard to do and yes im a nood sorry about that

sounds like you missed a step, make sure your command prompt is accessing the right folder.

I did step 1 and 2 right and I'm stuck on step 3 and 4 I'm at the commands part I'm able to be at the SDK tools folder on the commands but I don't know what else to do I copy what step 4 is telling me but I'm not able to go thru

Did you put the SDK Tool folder on your harddrive local disk c: ?

before you open it on the comand step, you need to have you sdk folder on that location on your PC, so it could open in the comand.

This might be my first root creation :D but I'll see if I can get you all a root without needing custom recovery (aka hard way/exploit). I'll try to do some research on it.

you have to navigate to the folder that has adb or set it up in your environmental variables (not recommended unless experienced). Just cd to platform-tools or wherever you have adb at.
 
Never Mind I got it :D and thanks for helping me my device is now unlock and it has the recovery but um the stock rom comes with root on it the one that they told me download odex
 
basically, you flash the stock ROM with root in ODEX format through the recovery and that's how you obtain root on this phone. i personally would recommend trying another ROM other than stock though because stock is pretty bad imo. i'm not a Sense fan though.

Okay which is a best Rom and also I'm a fan of the sense its much more different than other android
 
yea im already unlocked and stuff... im jus stuck at the recovery part... keeps saying cant load "recovery.img"

Which recovery you trying to flash?

.post the name of the recovery file..ill tell you hoe to rename it besides recovety.IMG..sometimes it won't work..didn't for me either so I renamed it.

ZR3DX will let you do either sense or stock depending on how you decide to skin it. Try that one. I personally use dark sense right now.
 
I just recently bought this phone, and I want to root it just for the wireless tether. I did this with my old phone (Lg Optimus V) and it worked well, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it with this phone... Could someone please help? I'm clueless right now
