Help s3 screen lock and time out

I have just noticed that for some reason the s3 will not automatically turn the screen off and lock the menu and back buttons are permanently illuminated until i press the power button i did install the samsungdrive app earlier but it was working fine i think until maybe a couple of hrs ago? any ideas?
 
Settings -> Display -> Screen Timeout -> Choose a setting between 15 seconds and 10 minutes.

Then

Settings -> Security -> Lock automatically -> Immediately

This will cause the lock screen to enable as soon as the screen times out.


For the Key Back lights

Settings -> Display -> Touch key light duration

yeah all this is already done and ive re-done it


after a restart i think it may have sorted itself but it think it was the new samsung drive app that came out today that caused it
 
its happened again tonight its just staying on the home screen and isnt timing out the screen or locking, its been fine all day until ive just noticed now the time out is set to 30secs, all ive done is turn wifi off then on and look for updates read flickbook and drippler a few apps have updated, i have noticed that the wifi hasn't been waking when the phone does, ive also long pressed home and closed the list, and done the same then task manager there are no active apps in the tab, ram is running at 488mb/779mb,

obv somthing is keeping it awake odd how both times were i the evning and i presume the wifi should awaken itself when the phone is used if it on?

just restarted and its timed out as it should, but i dont fancy having to restart every night to fix it?
 
You haven't rooted or installed a custom ROM or anything have you? Another site I frequent has a lot of reports of the same problem, but most people with this problem are flashing leaked Jelly Bean firmware.

EDIT:

I just checked again and it appears it is the drivelink app. You might want to uninstall it until Samsung updates it.

nope im all standard didnt see the point with the official so close.. only thing ive installed is the new samsung drive link app, everything else has been previous to that other than updates..

I updated my post above. Some people updated to the latest jelly bean leak at around the same time as they installed drive link. Some people are saying that removing drive link fixes it :)
 
ill try that thanks, ud think samsung would have been on top of that, would be ideal for at the min aswell as the nfc launcher wont work the standard driving mode tut..

I am experiencing the same problem, though I am not using "drive link". It did seem to start after installing the OTA Jelly Bean update from T-mobile. I have no idea what to do, but I do know it is causing problems in my life as my phone battery is usually dead as a result of the screen staying on and me not thinking to manually turn it off.
 
Verizon Galaxy S3, just did the Jelly Bean update a couple weeks ago and this same problem is affecting me. Screen doesnt time out at all. A reset will temporarily fix it, but it always comes back. Killing my battery daily. I am NOT using Drive Link or whatever, don't see it installed. HELP!
 
i have also noticed that for some reason if i leave it in a certain position on the settee arm it stays awake it must be confusing something like a picture for an eye have you tried it in different places?
