Help MUFFLED SOUND -Incoming calls

gberland

Lurker
just recently had a broken screen replacement done from samsung, couple weeks later now when i get a phone call i answer and all i can hear is a muffled bass sound from the other person, can barley hear them im pretty sure they cant hear me either i never confirmed if they can hear me or not, i can make and recieve calls and hear them perfectly through bluetooth or with my headphones plugged in with an external mic , anyways since my warranty is up i already replaced the ear peice speaker Replacement Ear Speaker Flex Cable Tools for Samsung i9250 Galaxy Nexus JSFC433 | eBay

still the same concern after i repaired it !!, now before i even think about sending it to samsung an paying out of my %^$ i would like to hear any suggestions / or experiences taking the phone apart is not an issue for me now LOL mabey

Seems like I'm the only one having this issue. Grrrr mabey I'll rip it apart again an check for debris blocking the speaker??

Sounds like the logical first step, especially if you're out of warranty anyway. No point paying for a fix without looking first. I would suggest trying to talk to someone to see if they can hear you at all with your microphone in the phone. Start a call on BT, then switch over to Handset Earpiece and see if they can hear you at all, obviously let them know first.

Well I can tell u that with my blue tooth mic an even my external plug in mic I can hear an talk fine during phone calls , the problem only occurs whenever I try to make a call with The phone on regular mode with no mic or blue tooth

Right, I was just wondering if you were able to narrow down if they were able to hear you at all through the built-in mic, or if it was only on your end that it was muffled. Just wanted to check that, as your original post you sounded a little unsure. However, it really does look like it's a hardware issue somewhere.

well ill try call some one and let u kno how it goes......so if its a hardware issue would this require a system Reset????

Well, if it's actually something hardware related, then no. If you have an ability to back everything up though, might try a System Reset anyway to rule out anything software-related. But then you do have to reload.

One more thing you can try if you haven't, is to try to record voice on a recording app, or see if Google Voice Search recognizes your voice through the built-in mic. If it does work fine, then it would lean more to something wonky in the software side of calls, which would lead to a reset to test further. If a voice search or recording doesn't give you any better results than calls, it's more likely hardware which wouldn't need a reset to perform.

thanks alot buddy i appreciate it , but anyways ya so i called my house phone with my cell and got my GF to listen on the other line i was using the built in mic with nothing

else connected Bluetooth, external plug in mic, ETC. she said she could hear me loud and clear while , myself on the other hand could only hear a muffled sound of her voice i could hear it but barely , almost sounds like a blown speaker if u kno what that means so what is the next logical step, grrrrr i really hate resetting my phone seems everytime i get it perfect , i have to reset again !! lol

I'd say, check with the Voice Search or a recorder, whatever, and see if it's limited to only during calls that things are wacky, or if it's all the time. If it works fine with things OTHER than calls, then I'd try a reset first. However, if it doesn't recognize things, or if you use a voice recorder app with the built in mic and it doesn't capture clearly, then you'll want to look at replacing the hardware portion. Probably check to see if there's any debris or anything obvious, before moving on to replacing the mic/speaker if needed. And I know exactly what you mean about getting it set up and having to redo it all!

ok well downloaded a voice recorder app and replayed a recording and i heard my voice clear, and yet when i call my house phone i could only hear a muffled sound from the oher person while they could hear me fine, did a factory rest and SAME THING!! lol since i replaced this part Replacement Ear Speaker Flex Cable Tools for Samsung i9250 Galaxy Nexus JSFC433 | eBay what is the next part to replace ??/ can some one provide a link ?? or pic i dont kno were to check for debris ??
