Do you like to test phones out or have a daily driver?

I've worked in test and measurement for decades, I'll test anything that I can get my hands on. :) I'm currently chatting with a hardware manufacturer (not a phone maker) to be one of their recognized testers. If that goes through, I'll be testing and writing about phones and tablets using their stuff, and my sig will change to reflect that.

My daily driver is an HTC Evo 4G LTE (Sprint variant of the One X with aluminum chassis and 64 GB sd card). I run a modified Viper4G rom (was on the test team for that lol). My other two HTCs serve as test platforms now, one rooted and one not.

One mod in particular allows me to have reached cell phone camera nirvana with the HTC ImageSense chip. I can take and store photos with very low jpg compression, and I can touch the glass once to spot meter/focus and take a shot.

I've tended to go with HTCs because I unlock the bootloader, remove encrypted security protection and then modify/access as I please with unix. I'm running a slightly modified bootloader now but in the past have run engineering bootloaders.

Rooting and modifying until I get what I want is of crucial importance to me.

I've checked out the One and SGS4 but I'm really waiting at this point to see what Motorola and Sony will be offering next.

Sounds cool, EM. :)
I wish there was some sort of tweak to make the crap hardware of my Gnex camera better, but alas, I don't think there is.
I'm interested in seeing what Moto rolls out as well but skeptical Sony will ever make a strong hold with American carriers.

And that's a shame because right now Sony is probably the most developer-friendly Android manufacturer out there.

Some of their screen tech that I don't think we've gotten here seems really excellent from a technical perspective as well.

I'd love to have some of Androids that Sharp has released only to Japan as well.

PS - two years ago when I got my 3D phone, people in Japan were getting this - http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile...droid-3d-waterproof-phone-with-a-16mp-camera/

That's a very clever design.

We miss out on a lot.

PPS - sorry about the site going down just now and acting sluggish.

We're on it.

I always wonder about how LG and Sony are doing development wise. Seems like most of the Optimus phones are doing well with ROMs. :)

Two of our latest reviews from Yelp on the bread: :D
Also the bread is out of the world at le diplomate, made fresh 5x per day in house. My date couldn't stop raving about it! It was even better than the bread served at Parisian cafes because it was fresh rather than the leftovers!
But the real winner was the complimentary bread. The fruit and walnut bread was delicious and nutty without being overly sweet, while the wheat had a delicious hint of sourdough twang combined with a chewy core and a crusty shell. Perfection.

Please, don't post pics Bread. That would definitely worsen things here. Am drooling already. :o

Have you checked out Camera JB+?

Does the Gnex let you choose your jpg quality?

Purchased! :)
I can choose the picture size (megapixel wise) but that appears to be it with the stock app.

Making ciabatta today for the first time at home. I'll be sure to hide any pics of it when I'm finished. :p

You Sir, redefine the terms Nerd and Geek :p

And I know you know me well enough by now, but just incase, i'll say it anyway. No offense intended :D

Did I mention that life without nerds and geeks is akin to technology without evolutionary progression ;) spect man.

Expect a new Nexus 7 with 4g to be announced soon.

Why?

Because I just broke down and bought the HSPA+ AT&T version to replace my broken wifi nexus 7.

:)

My N7 isn't turning on. :(
Been messing with it trying to figure out if it needs another charger to get it going.

Hoping the weather holds out this evening. We want to make it to the first outdoor movie of NoMa's showing this year! :)
They have a far better listing of movies than most festivals.
NoMa Summer Screen | NoMa
Screen on the Green which is on the Nat'l Mall still hasn't been announced. But, we have some great other options:
DC Outdoor Films schedule

mine did the same. Power off and will not boot back up. The screen stays black, back light comes on and some static on the screen here and there. Hope my new one don't do this.

It's a sealed battery so no go there. Have tried holding the power and different combos of the volume buttons to force it into recovery or bootloader but no avail. :(
I'll keep it plugged in again tonight in hopes it was just a low battery issue. :o

Don't you know all phones can be opened? :D

I hope that works bread. My screen is beginning to spider worse. :(
