sufficient ppi for you? 441 vs 306 vs 233 vs 190 ppi ?

PPI means nothing to me. What's important is the size of the screen vs usability - high pixel density is pointless if the device is a pig to use. My phone is a tool not a trophy. :)

hmm I bet ppi would mean something to your eyes if you had 190 ppi vs 441 ppi

:p

but I agree it's not everything ..

but point it so enjoy what you are seeing on your tool

I don't really notice that much. My Motorola moto g gas a screen that I can touch and shows picture so that's good enough for me.

My Galaxy Note has been harassed for not having a great screen but what I use it for, PPI doesn't matter v

i prefer higher PPI given that i was spoiled with Apple's Retina display. seeing pixels makes a screen harder for my eyes. higher densities make it easier to view in the long term.

As long as the pixels aren't noticeable at an average viewing distance that is OK with me. At 190 ppi they are viewable, so I'd go with around 220 or higher.

I'd say around 300ppi is the highest I can see. I know I can definitely see pixels with the Galaxy Megas, but then these are really mid-range phones and significantly cheaper than the latest Galaxy Ss.

Something I have noticed though if one goes too high with the ppi, is that with certain apps the text becomes too small to read comfortably, and occasionally extremely difficult without magnification. These are older apps where the devs haven't designed them for high ppi screens, and often there's no updates available. There's one game I play regularly, Pinball Arcade which is a current game, on my low PPI Samsung Win, the text easy to read, but on the new Oppo with it's high 460ppi or whatever screen, the text is tiny, which many people might not be able to read at all.

Im quite happy with a screen 10.1" and 1280x800. Im always surprised of the hype around the pixel density. Could Be abit better, e.g. if i split the screen and do some notes when reading the other side of the screen, the text goes fuzzy and need to zoom it. Otherwise, i dont see any other bad thing with the density as low as this is.

MKBHD did a nice video comparing the new crazy high res. G3 to some others:

(don't be concerned with his camera quality, he uses a $15k+ Red camera ;))

To me, now, a lot has to do with outdoor visibility. My old Bionic had a pretty horrible screen, but it was very visible outside whereas even cranked to the highest brightness, my G2 is only so so.
