htc phone wired remote question

From another http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/66320-headphones-built-mic-controls.html

I took a quick poke around an accessory store and found this:

HTC Wired Remote Control Stereo Headset for CellularSouth HTC Hero / HTC Hero, Magic / Sprint Hero / T-Mobile myTouch 3G, myTouch 3G Fender - Android Central Store

Seems there needs to be an add-on driver for it. Though comments left are unclear whether it actually does work for Android or not.

In either case, I think this is worth a bit more research. I listen to music using Etymotic ER-6i's via my iPod, while riding my motorcycle, and would love to have a fully integrated solution to work with the Evo. The Etymotic hf2's are close but would love to also be able to control music and such as these can.

does anyone know if it's possible to use voice commands to control music player in general?

The ability to do voice commands has nothing to do with a headset, its all done through the phone. All that does is give you a mic thats on a cord.

And be aware, that site does NOT say that works with the Evo.

Nope... unless you're like my dog - give it commands and it just stares at me then does what it feels like.

Bek so which wired headset will you be using with the evo? i don't care for music controls, i just want a headset with a good mic, i can't get myself to use bluetooth =]
TIA

I'm not, I went Bluetooth and am very happy with it.

Sennheiser MM-200's.

I care more about music controls & noise isolation vs hands-free calling, which is what drove my decision.
