Help Android 8 - Duplicate app shortcuts

Newbie
My first Android handset was a Samsung S4 running 4.4 or so. It was possible to create multiple desktop shortcuts to the same app, so I was able to sprinkle shortcuts to apps I used frequently on every screen and not have to go hunting for them.

I now have a Huawei 3i with Android 8.1 and this ability seems to have been removed, regressing the operating system towards the locked down insanity that iPhone users have to put up with (or maybe they like it - I dunno).

Am I missing something here? Can you still do this?

Myself, and a few other members here argued with Huawei just to get an app drawer (to they have it sorted in any reasonable order yet, or is it still in order of installation o_O ). They are locked into their EMUI schema with all of its flaws. The only way to make a Huawei tolerable is with a 3rd party launcher like Nova Prime. I don't say that to pan Huawei as I've owned several, just that their launcher is lacking.

Why don't you just create a folder in the quick shortcut section at the bottom of your screen? See attached pic, that way they follow you to every page you visit.

Good thinking - It's not *quite* the same thing but nevertheless may end up being just as useful, if not more so.

I had started to play with Nova, but I couldn't see that it was possible to import my existing desktop - there was an option in settings to import from another launcher, but the default Huawei launcher wasn't one of them.
