Despite rumors saying Samsung has plans to launch a foldable smartphone as soon as this year, a new report suggests the company doesn't think the concept is commercially viable until at least 2019. That said, we could see device concepts begin to show up long before that.
Samsung has been awarded a design patent for a new foldable phone concept. The patented design shows a phone which can be folded closed like a notebook, and the phone in question has parts of its display exposed so the user can see pertinent information without having to unfold it.
