AT&T has announced that it will begin its Project AirGig trials later this fall in the US. Project AirGig is based on a new broadband technology which uses antennas that are placed on utility poles.
AT&T wants to piggyback off the current power grid and use those poles to attach an antenna that will deliver 4G LTE and 5G multi-gigabit connectivity.
The company says their initial outdoor tests have been successful, and is scheduled to launch their first field trial test sometime in 2017.
