Root [1st Gen] any GB ROMs out there?

i admit it was pushing it to have JB on there, and i'm as of now sick of how different it is, how unstable it is (rebooting shouldn't be required and the memory usage is always over 85% with constant crashing and freezing at the loading screen) and how unreliable browsing is (have to use my laptop to download files to it vs actually downloading through its own browser, and Google Chrome is constantly mis-labeled Mobile Safari by websites. is there a GB ROM available for the Fire? to me JB is as unstable as ol'e Eclair was. 2.3 is the only version i felt happy with.

Wow. I use the cm10 by twa_priv with virtually no issues. What recovery are you using. Twrp works great. Just factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system, flash the Tom and gapps and you should be good. My jb and ics experience on the kf has been wonderful.

Sorry....to answer the question there should be some cm7 builds that are pretty reliable. Or modaco is good too....it's the stock Amazon software with gapps and play store added on.

TWRP is what i used to flash the JB ROM. but the ROM is unstable and i'm not liking how different JB is. they moved around a lot, and it's heavy on memory usage. to the point that while games play fine, other stuff loads it up. today was day three where after unplugging it from charger it was frozen in a Sleep of Death. and i had to reset it again when it froze trying to turn on USB Storage (as stated i cannot download APKs reliably from browser and these are APKs which are not showing on Play Store for some reason). and various other malfunctions. GB is on my phone and i love it. the version of GB i backed up before flashing the ROM has too much of the Kindle stuff on it and i want pure Android which was why i made the change to JB, to see what it was like. it's just not for the Fire or me though. JB seems intensive and maybe it's just **too** different for me

@Mizzou what others are out there? while i liked my Kindle launcher it eventually screwed up and my books would only show or download through the Kindle App which i admit is not all that bad, hence my decision to try out JB anyway. if i flash a new ROM it must be 2.3 Gingerbread. the last CM7 i remember was for the LG Optimus V phone.

any chance i can get a GB ROM that is able to be flashed via TWRP vs. typing in all that Command Line jargon?

The ROM link is there. Look at the part where he SAS to download this version if coming from stock. Sounds like it includes an auto wipe script. Or there is a version without the script. Either way wiping everything manually would be recommended.

any others? the one you posted has broken wifi, and a tablet without wifi is pretty useless. the only one Google showed for GB has a bunch of unnecessary ICS addons i don't want.

CM7 does a repeated 'process.acore has stopped working' over and over if i enable wifi. can't fix it. now i got nothing. i hate JB and i want a good stock looking GB rom and now wifi is dead

EDIT: Disregard it worked after flashing as second time. not sure what went wrong the 1st

I'm thinking of dropping back to gingerbread myself. I love jellybean haven't had any problems with it except I'm finding I do miss flash player.
