Root [1st Gen] kindle stuck in bootloop, pc can't see it

Lurker
I was using KFU to root my kindle, installed go launcher and got superuser access. I also believed that I installed FFF and TWRP, but this apparently is not the case as I was never able to see the FFF bootloader upon restart. Used KFU to change bootmode to fastboot, and the kindle stayed stuck at the stock white and orange "kindle fire" boot screen.

Then, like an idiot, I decided to let the battery run down, as I was unable to turn the battery off. Now, the Kindle will only turn on when plugged in to a power source, boots to the kindle fire stock bootloader, then immediately restarts. My computer (windows 8) isn't able to recognize the device whatsoever, even after reinstalling the drivers from KFU. Bought a factory cable online but it did nothing. HELP!
