Help 1st SD Card in phone - how do I mount it??

Lavernesr

Lurker
I guess I'm "challenged" because everything I've read about mounting a SD card is over my head.

My phone is an Ascend - carrier is Straight Talk. It did not come with and SD card.

I bought a 32gb Micro SD Card, now what???

Initially, I thought I just put it in the phone and that it would ask me to push a button & it would be mounted.....

A bunch of posts I've read refer to "partitioning" and having to use your computer to format it.

I haven't done anything to the phone since it came out of the box except add a few apps, couple songs and have some pictures.

I bought it so (I think) I'll be able to download more apps, music, etc.

Can anyone help me with an SD Cards for idiots cheat sheet?

Thanks,
Lisa

The card should come formatted. Putting it in the phone should cause it to mount. You should be able to move pictures, video, music to the card.

Apps? Some apps can have some parts moved to the card, but parts of them will stay in internal memory. It'll buy you time, but basically you have 512 MB of space to put apps on, and that's not a lot.
