2.1 update april!

Where is the post in the Tmobile forum? I haven't found it? But then again I haven't really looked too much, just thought you might know where to find it.

I'm not rooted, but presumably, you could go for an HTC vanilla 2.1 ROM, and stay rooted? I can't imagine that there's much value going for a T-Mob ROM once you're rooted.

Ahhhh I can't wait for this!! Just seen a few awesome looking Google products that are going to be available for this *drools*

Yes, this is one area where us Brits aren't lagging months behind the US. I'm not sure why the British mobile networks are better with the Hero.

Sorry, I'm new to Android systems and the G2 Touch, is this a Firmware update? And how would I go about installing it? Also what does rooting mean? I've seen it everywhere but I can't figure out what it means!

Don't worry about rooting right now.

The ROM - when it's released is contained in an executable file you run on your PC while you have your G2 connected via USB. You run the program and it will flash your G2 with the new ROM. It completely wipe it and you wll need to install your apps again. Yu'll not have to pay again for paid apps as your Google account will remember you have already paid.

I've just come off the telephone to HTC support regarding a minor glitch I have on my T-Mobile G2Touch. She confirmed that 2.1 will be released at the end of April and will be an 'over the air update', ie you will receive a message and have to accept and it will download and install.

I don't know the intricacies of the tecchy side, just letting you know what HTC said to me yesterday. Sorry.

Just taken this from HTC support website, although for the Nexus I would imagine it's the same for all over the air updates.

While this update will not erase information on your phone, it is still recommended that you back up your important data. Once installed, please confirm you have the right build number by going to Settings > About phone and scrolling to Build number. The latest OTA update will update you to build number ERE27. If the update fails, or if you would like to install the update at a later time, you can restart the download process by going to Settings > About phone and selecting System updates. Note: You must be connected via Wi-Fi or a have an active cellular data connection to download an OTA update and standard charges from your carrier may apply. If you do not have enough battery life remaining, the Restart & install button will be grayed out. Please charge your phone, and try the upgrade again later.

Hope this helps
