Help 2.3.4 Problems On LG P990

Introduction post........check! :)

Hi guys,

Okay, I own the LG Optimus 2X on the Tesco Mobile network running 2.3.4, & I am having serious issues, this phone was originally running 2.2.2 & everything worked great. But since the upgrade, the GPS no longer works, well, it does for about 30 secs, the phone randomly reboots, even in the middle of calls, I get random signal loss, & the wifi is dodgy too. Luckily, the handset is still under warranty, so it has just been sent off to LG-UK for repair. They assure me they can fix it, but I'm not so sure as they are denying there is a 2.3.4 problem. I have read in different places that the V20g firmware is the problem......? :(

I have asked them to reinstall 2.2.2, but they reckon they can't as it's been upgraded! :(

What I'd like to know is, has anybody else had issues with 2.3.4/V20g............?

I have an Optimus 2x (P990) which was originally supplied with Android 2.2.2 and everything seemed to work well. I upgraded to Android 2.3.4 and started to have problems with the GPS taking ages to get a fix and failing to find satellites. After contacting LG Support they asked me to send it back. When it was returned to me after many weeks they had re-installed 2.2.2. The GPS certainly seemed to be much better until I re-installed 2.3.4 when the GPS problems returned. I suspect Android 2.3.4 although I don't have any of your other problems.

This software issue is not new to carrier provided Gingerbread firmware. A custom Gingerbread ROM (mostly the CM-7 versions) will usually have this problem fixed.

The Android on this phone is not carrier provided. I bought the phone unlocked. Would the same problem still occur with LG provided firmware?

i have the same problem, does anyone know how to fix these problems????

After upgraded to version 2.3.4, I have problems updating or downloading apps from PlayStore.. it keeps saying that i have insufficient storage space available.

Does anyone encounter same issue too?

Can anyone help me pls...

Thanks :o

Another bug in the update: Try going to menu/settings/applications/choose the "All" Tab/find the Market-PlayStore app/select it/clear cache and data.
If this doesn't help the you might think about downgrading then read up on installing a custom ROM in the All Things Root sub-forum.

I did a factory reset on my 2x today and it seems to have fixed the GPS problem as the GPS is now working quite well. I got 9 satellites and a fix in about 30 seconds. :)

Yes you can, when the phone starts up hold the power key and the volume key down.
This will reset your phone to factory settings.
