2.3.5 update

There will be a 2.3.5 OTA update for the Electrify in early December. Not sure why, but that is what the USCC tech rep had to say this afternoon.

Well there must be some technical bug that they found. I mean, the phone is brand new (as far as the Electrify goes) and could have some issues that we just haven't noticed yet... Or have we? o.O

I stopped in my local USCC store today and had a great chat with the tech repair man. He said that one of the reasons for the patch was to deactivate the ability to delete some of the pre-loaded "bloatware" apps that you can currently do. He indicated that the 2.3.5 OTA update can only be ignored once, and that the second time it comes to the phone it will automatically install itself. So, get rid of what you can while you can, if you wish.

He also said that the Electrify will get the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update at some point in the future.

Oh, trust me. I deleted every piece of bloatware I could the moment the USCC store rep handed me my phone. First target on my list was Your Navigator Deluxe.

I haven't gotten any notifications on the update as of yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

ICE CREAM SANDWICH!!! Now I'm super awesome fantasticly happy that I bought my Electrify.

Installed the OTA update tonight.

Had to perform photon-torpedo root again and back to rooted Electrify. No bloatware here :)

I just went to see if there was a software system version update on my phone and there is. I currently have 45.1.16.MB853.USC.en.US and it's going to update to 45.1.190.en.us. Is there a way to find out what that is doing?

Ok I have the FOTA update already and can verify that the store technician was guessing on that. I can still delete the bloatware after its installation. As for ICS I ha e not seen anything for sure but I dont see us getting it. USCC is way behind the curve on releasing Android versions. Unless it just skips from 2.3 to 4.0 which I dont see them doing.

pretty sure phone versions of android do skip from 2.3 to 4.0, the 3.x's were tablet oriented so there would be no reason to consider them for a phone.

It was an OTA (Over-The-Air) update that took place last December. You may have to go in to your US Cellular store and have the tech person update your phone for you.
