Im furious...in Italy the updated has been released by LG on 1st nov!!! I can't believe in UK has not been released yet. The software is the same and hardware also!!!
Do you have a rational explanation for this?

It s 21st ..still no update for UK! Shame over shame.
Why other in countries LG ha already relased it? Issues with the UK version only? Strange...

Had a chat with LG UK support. According to them today it should be released.
12:54 PM me: Any news about when the new software update (2.3.4) for LGP990 will be available?
12:54 PM Mobile Phone Support: As far as we are aware in the UK the update has become available over all open P990 handsets today, but this could vary with other countries in Europe.
12:54 PM me: I own a LG Optimus dual bought in UK and try to update it with the mobile support tool
12:54 PM me: it says no update are available. my current firmware is V10D
12:55 PM me: It is an open devce of course
12:57 PM Mobile Phone Support: Ok the information we have received from LG is that the update is due to be released today. It may be worth checking the Update Tool throughout the day and over the next few days to see if the update becomes available.
12:57 PM me: I will try later on.
12:57 PM me: thanks

I live in Canada, I'm with Wind Mobile, my phone is the LG Optimus 2x LG-P999 and I still haven't received any updates, I'm getting sick of waiting, this is the last time I buy an LG product of any kind.

I tried to upgrade it this morning and still the update wasn't available. My handset is open and bought in UK.

I called LG again and they said that the my mobile network need to authorise the upgrade even if it s an open handset. This is the biggest bullshit I ever heard in my life. I think I will move to a Samsung handset very soon.

Other UK users?

In Italy the new firmware with Android 2.3.4 has been released on 1st of november!

I cant beileve LG are still messing us about with the updates,do they ever learn?

It seems that the only way not to be disapointed with android is a Nexus phone!

All this story is more and more similar to a joke. Here s another chat with LG Support. Have fun

11:58 AM Giulio: Good morning. I would like to know when the new android version 2.3.4 will be released in UK for my LGP990?

11:59 AM Mobile Phone Support: LG UK would like to express its thanks to all of the Optimus Series owners who have been waiting patiently for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade. We are excited by the high level of product interest that LG Optimus Series owners have shown, and we are taking all possible measures to offer a smooth OS upgrade in a timely manner.

11:59 AM Mobile Phone Support: We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay of the Gingerbread update. We were given 21st of November as the official release date, however it still seems to be unavailable for some handsets, and LG are currently looking into rectifying this issue as fast as possible. All we can advise at this point is to keep checking the mobile support tool to check the availability of Android 2.3.

12:00 PM Mobile Phone Support: Please follow the instructions in the document I am about to send to check for updates.

12:00 PM Notice: Agent Mobile Phone Support has sent you file: Phone Software Upgrade Instructions.txt, click here to download.

12:01 PM Giulio: So does it mean I need to unistall my Lg Support Tool?

12:02 PM Mobile Phone Support: If you already have the support tool, there is no need to uninstall it and install it again. I would suggest checking the tool regularly for the availability of the update.

12:04 PM Giulio: I will do. thanks. I don't understand why in other countries it has been released without or less problems.

here s the link he mentioned http://service.velaro.com/transfer/Phone Software Upgrade Instructions.txt

SHAMEFUL AGAIN!

Well this really sucks... looks like I'll be rooting my phone once CM9 is released because at his rate I don't see the LG ICS update coming until 2013

anyone know when 2.3 is supposed to come out in Canada?

Funny you should ask, I just upgraded to 2.3 yesterday from LG Canada's website. I downloaded the USB drivers from their site and then proceeded to do firmware upgrade. Initially, I got stuck on 4% of upgrade, but didn't realize that I didn't install all 4 drivers. After I ran the driver installation again, the upgrade took about 10 mins.

How did you manage that? For me it just keeps on saying that I have the latest version available.

edit: okay, this is really starting to piss me off now. After reinstalling the drivers numerous times, the LGMobile Update program finally tells me that there's an update available.

I click update, and the PHONE UPDATE program then comes up only to tell me "Update not required."

Did you make sure all 4 driver were installed properly? The first time I tried there was a quick window that popped up saying driver install failed, and then another one quickly showed up after say it was successful. I figured, that means they were ALL installed successfully but it was the 3rd driver that failed for whatever reason. Make sure you have the USB cable unplugged while you install the drivers again. From the window that has is before the one you have attached in the thumbnail, there is a install usb driver button...try hitting that button.

I know it was very frustrating for me as well. Just trail an error for me and was lucky enough to get it right.

Good luck!

Starting to get very very annoyed with LG now...

LG 2x unlocked, bought from Carphone Warehouse.
Ive been checking for the update daily...
i couldnt help but laugh when i read the "timely manner" rubbish

Received this on 23 Nov 2011.
