Download PC Companion from Sony and do an update for the phone.

If your mobile provider allows you to install 2.3, then it will update to 2.3. Some providers prevent their x10 customers from upgrading. Who is your mobile carrier?

As beau420 stated try downloading PC Companion (from the link below) and connect your phone to your computer. If there is an update available for your phone you will be notified and given the option to update but if you have 1.6/2.1 and get the message that your phone is up to date then it means no further update is available for your phone.

check the all root section
there is a website that can debrand your phone
unbranded phone will update to the latest os aviable from the manufacturer wich for your x10i is 2.3.2 or 2.3.3
