Help 4.2.2 Multi-window

My tablet just upgraded to 4.2.2 and I am unable to enable milti-window. I am unable to check the box to enable it. It shows up in the Notification bar but it is a light green color (unlike the rest) and it does nothing when pressed. Help please!!

Oh and I think the lock screen is messed up too. I think there are suppose to be pages u scan scroll through but I don't have it. This box shows up for a second and then goes away. Cant get anything to happen.

My upgrade to 4.2.2 worked ok. The multi-screen option was there. I just had to turn it off and back on to get the sidebar. My display screen timeout changed as well. My screen was going dark after about 3 seconds so I had to act quickly to get to the screen timeout setting to find it was on a setting labeled "()". I changed it to my old settings. What I don't have is the original Widget for weather and time. I found one in the Widgets area but it isn't as nice looking. Anyone know what happened to the original widget?

That's the lock screen widget. When it appears, tap it and you can assign widgets.

Hmm I'm sorry but I am out of suggestions.

By chance have you tried the Daydream feature? I have enabled it and tried its different settings and it doesn't seem to do a damn thing no matter what, though I may just be misunderstanding how it's supposed to work.

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. When you're looking at the daydream option in your settings, if you hit the menu button you can select when the daydream activates. By default it seems like it would never come on even if you have it turned on, which is just dumb but there you go.

You can unlock the bean flinger daydream here: Unlock the hidden 'BeanFlinger' daydream in Android 4.2 | Android Central

Have you tried completely shutting down the device, waiting a few seconds and booting it up again?

Have you cleared the cache partition (preferably through the Android Recovery Console)?

Otherwise, you may have to do a hard wipe (ie. delete everything on the device) back to factory defaults. But ensure you have backed up the device beforehand. This is a last resort solution that usually fixes any software bugs that creep up after an update.

I got the menu button. I was looking for it on the screen but it the button on the device. I don't really get the purpose of daydream though. In sure it uses your battery up.

Add far as my other issues I'm going to best buy today top talk to the guy that worked on my phone to see if it can be fixed before I reset the whole thing.

When mine updated to 4.2 my multi window didnt work. My lock screen widgets did work either. I had to do a factory reset and now everything works as it should

I should have chimed in before, but I was experiencing something similar with the screen timeout. I haven't experienced it lately though, so I don't know if something changed or if there was an app that was causing it.

I do know that there was something with widgetlocker that was causing the notification bar to have issues, but the recent update fixed everything. Part of me feels both the notification and screen timeout issue was with widgetlocker, especially since the issues stopped when I temporarily switched it off, but if all of you were experiencing it with the stock, then I'm not sure what it could be. Now my note 8 and note 3 are running widgetlocker and no more issues.

Has anyone come up with a convenient fix for the lost Multi Window? It seems both absurd and irresponsible that Samsung would expect their users to have to do a complete reset and reload all of their apps.

I'm still waiting. I had just installed apps with free trials so I've been holding off hoping something new would come to light.

I just talked with Samsung support and they told me they have had only a couple of complaints about the loss of multi-windows with 4.2.2. They only escalate the complaint if they get more reports of the problem. I guess it's time to start the complaints. I was told the only solution at this time is to do a reset. This is not an option fro me and I think most of us

My experience with Samsung led me to believe they knew about it and already intend to put a fix out. No comment as to how long that might take. I may need to reset after all.....

Whats the deal with a reset. I did it. Google reinstalled all my apps for me. I made sure all my files, music, pics and stuff were on my sd card. It only takes a little bit of your time. I had to do my phone at the same time as it had issues too.

Was hit with the exact same problem.
Brand new note 8, configured, installed some updates ... no multi-window. Grayed out in settings. Light green in the top panel.
Did a factory restore.
Multi-window is back.

Hope that won't be necessary again, because wiping a device for a tiny software glitch should never be required.

Bought a few weeks ago -- it worked fine until Samsung updated it to 4.2.2. Multi Window feature stopped working. This is not just my problem -- the discussion boards are seething with outrage that Samsung's advice is to use factory reset of the tablet to have this feature back (which by the way, Samsung peddles as a distinct feature of Note 8). Factory reset is time consuming, poorly defined as to the results of it, and certainly requires backing everything up. Samsung is irresponsible, and so far refused to fix the problem. To verify this post just Google "Multi Window Note 8 stopped working". Samsung is a disgrace of customer support.

It is only not a big deal for those who have a lot of time on their hands...

Come on now. I'm a single dad of 3 and work 2 jobs. I dont have a lot of time but I did find time enough to redo mine. You don't have to babysit it. Google does 90% of it for you.
