4.2.2 update being rolled out

Fingers crossed ours won't be too far behind. My phone is starting to feel a bit old now, so an update to Sense 5 would be just the thing.

The One X+ is very similar to the One X (same Tegra 3 processor, just clocked slightly faster), so this should mean the majority of work has already been done for the update.

Its likely to be a staggered roll out though - so even when it does hit, it will be some time before everybody gets it.

I'm a little concerned for us XL owners though... the Tegra 3 is much different than the S4. Hopefully we don't have too long left to wait. i'm going to the AT&T store tonight to help dad pick a new phone, I'll badger them to see if they have any info.

Would be great if we could keep track as to who's got the update. I know they are rolling it out to unlocked phones first.

But as I have a branded phone I would be interested to hear if and when branded customers get their update.

So if people would be so kind as to just say when they got the update, where they are from and what network. It would give the rest of us an idea as to when we might get it.

Just became available to me. I'm downloading it as I type.
UK unbranded phone from cpw on o2, unrooted clearly.

Has anyone installed it yet and what do they think?

I'm gonna go ahead and sticky this, and ask a mod to change the title to make it more representative of an update thread.

If you get the update, please say your location and carrier, as well as when it first became available (if you know when :p)

Unbranded phone on Three network. I had checked at around 09:00 this morning and found nothing. Checked again around 11:00, after Mrs got update to her HTCOne, and updated then. So far I'm a bit underwhelmed - perhaps it'll grow on me.

O2 UK (Unbranded) 13:00,Looks ok changed my home screen position, not set up blink feed yet.
Seems a bit quicker and smoother hope battery life is better.

Just checked mine and the update is here for me. One X unbranded 02 UK. Lets have a play and see what its like.

Anyone run into any problems?

I have noticed that the scroll through the home screens has gone back to the original stop at each end.
Any bets on how long before it goes back to continuous scroll through again.

My UK Orange network Unbranded updated last night at about 7PM.

So far I'm 50/50 on the update,

Not too sure that I like the new look, and it seems to have lost most of the personalisation options. Cant find the theme option any more so either its gone or I'm not looking in the right place, and I haven't worked out how to remove the short cuts from the lock screen yet.

I do like that you move the clock to unlock it now though, and a few other little things have changed that I've noticed that help with how I use the phone personally, like the brightness widget cycling through more levels of brightness which is handy for when I go to bed,

Fingers crossed the battery life has improved.

quick question,

been testing battery life improvement since the upgrade,
Does seem to be slightly better,

But the new top user of my batter isn't 'Android OS' or 'Android System' anymore,

Its now 'Mediaserver'

Any idea what this is, dont remember seeing is on my usage before the update?

Oh the return of mediaserver. Mediaserver scans all media files on your device, to make sure they are all playable, and to cache them. It probably is using so much because you just updated. I would guess that it will die down in a few days.

I do play a fair bit of music but then I did before the update and dont remember media server using much battery,

I think the new updated music app or google music automatically downloads all information from the net for all the MP3's on my phone,

Stuff like Album art that I didnt have before has appeared and artist photo's and stuff,

Plus also read somewhere that it also downloads the lyrics for every song but im not sure,

But hopefully now its done it, it shouldnt have to do it again and shouldnt drain the battery as much

have used now for a few days and have noticed that the screen pattern to unlock the phone sometimes does not work i push up on home screen and it just unlocks the phone it doesnt give the pattern enter screen this has happened about 5 times ?

also when i power down the phone and power back on some of my apps on there pages have disappeared and some have disappeared from there folders and i have to move them all back to where they were, this happens every time i power the phone on & off ?
