Already an account on the Nexus 7?

So I sold my NC and bought a Nexus 7 today. After booting it up I went into Google Play to register my account. There was already an account listed there! Does this mean this was used and returned???

I take back what I said.

If it LOOKS fine, I would take it in and demand a partial refund, since I was sold a used item.
However, if it's damaged, return it entirely.

Well, my wife is travelling to a neighboring town and supposedly they have one in stock. She is going there tomorrow morning to see about exchanging it. I hope they take it since 1) it's opened and 2) I bought at my local store.

When you buy it from the google play site you have the option of preregistering it to your account.
Perhaps it was left checked?

Quite true. When I got mine from Play it already had my email entered, though I still had to enter a password. And, it never restored any apps.

Good news - called the store in the neighboring town and they held their last one for my wife. She exchanged it this morning. She's on her way home to drop it off for me. Hopefully this one is "clean". Will update...

Out of curiosity where did you buy it? That seems like really shady business practices to me.

Also many of the Walmart stores have the 16GB in stock now, at least here in Florida.

Hmm, I'm hesitant to put the name out there. Did they do this? Dunno. I know these things are tested before they leave the shop. Maybe one test is to see that connection to Play works. And after the test it wasn't reset properly. I dunno.

I'd hate for them to get bad "press" if it may not be their fault. Besides, assuming everything checks out when she gets home, they corrected the situation without hassle.

If the consensus is that I should "name names", then I'll tell. But I'm hesitant.

Great news! She just arrived and when I powered it up it asked for me to create or add an account, which is what I expected but didn't get on the first one. Whew!

Also, they have a S/N sticker on the back that you have to take off. On the used one, now that I think about it, this sticker was on the outside of the plastic wrap that covers the Nexus. I'm leaning towards it being a return here.

I'd put them on blast immediately!

Ha! Ok, well, I'll preface this with saying I cannot confirm it was due to their negligence. I am not placing blame, especially since they remedied the situation fully. But I purchased this at Office Depot.

Question...hows the color temperature on your new one? My first one had a real cool white effect, now the new one has a real warm white effect. Just curious
