Fring, Skype, Google Maps. Even the Google Play store.
All these come out of sleep to drain battery. Some also run services too. They're not things you can easily avoid.
There's a million and one battery apps but I've never found a task killer that does it properly, I mean the idea is flawed and not a clean solution. At a minimum they might run in the background (themselves wasting battery) and kill automatically but that too is not a good solution. I also noticed many task killers not picking up all processes and some not even picking up on services.
A better way to me seems using Titanium Backup to freeze an irritating app and unfreeze it when you need it. But this is inconvenient.
Is there something that does this though? I could properly throw something together but I want to check if it's already done first.
