Help Android 5 .... lost my icons at the top left?

Hi,

I recently updated to Android Lollipop, but I now don't get the icons showing up on the top left of my lock screen. Thats quite a handy feature, as it means I can check if I have any new emails etc without having to unlock the phone. I've attached a screenshot of what I mean.

Is there any way to change it, so that instead of seeing "O2-UK" in the top left, I can see my gmail notifications etc?

Ok, so after a bit of googling, came across:

Not ideal, but it does seem to work by setting notifications to show on the lock screen. Just in case anyone else has the same issue
