Hi all,

I'm looking for a way of easily transferring files from my phone to a shared drive, ideally using the share function so you can select a file and then select the drive in the share menu to drop it straight there.
I can do it via Filexpert by managing local and network files it's just that if I could do it with share that would be awesome.

Hi divinebovine,

Thanks for replying, samba share is good, I used it on my last phone although in a sense I consider it to be a wireless version of connecting via USB cable.

It's a fairly specific situation but this is my current method for what I'm doing:

  • On my laptop I have a shared folder called Galaxy where I transfer files from my phone.
  • I use FileExpert to scan the network for SMB shares and it finds my laptop and allows me to open the share.
  • I then browse on the tab in FileExpert to the DCIM folder on my phone, select the photos and copy them and paste them into the folder on my laptop.
Here is what I would prefer if in any way possible:

  • Create a Share icon to that folder on my laptop so that I can take a photo and from the gallery I can click on the share icon at the top and see that network drive (\\laptop\galaxy) and it will drop straight to that folder the same as you would share to bluetooth or something.
It's fairly specific but was hoping there might be something that could do it possibly.

Interesting. I haven't seen anything that can add an option to the list of destinations when you tap the "share" button in Android, which goes directly to a specified location (in this case, a shared folder on the network).

Hopefully someone else who has actually seen/used a feature like this can post, but I'm going to guess it will be a feature of a file manager like ES File Explorer, Astro File Manager, etc. Might have to research and try a bunch of them to find one that will do it.
