Root [AT&T] Phone wont turn on after rom flash fail

rob mac

Lurker
hello I have a htc one x that I tried roming with viperxl 3.7.7
I am unlocked and rooted
I seemed to have lost everything after the rom failed at the end
I can go into recovery and hboot as well as fastboot
how can I just get my phone to turn on and get back to unlocked rooted status before I messed it up/
Thank You for any Help

Hi Rob,

Which model One X do you have? Is it an International (Tegra 3 chipset), or a Snapdragon model, or maybe an XL (since I see "XL" in the ROM name)? This will help us move your post to the correct forum to get the best response (ROMs will differ between the different models).

If you took a backup from recovery before you tried to flash the ROM then just go back into recovery and restore that. Otherwise I'd suggest reflashing the ROM (if the ROM is not corrupt, and is OK for your model of the phone) or trying a different ROM.

Thank you again for the help on my multiple post, I understand.
Thank you for your reply!
I am just from leaving the apple tree and attempted to rom after successful unlock and root.
I did something wrong at the point of flashing the img.boot I believe. I can no longer do a backup or restore. the phone shows htc screen but with the message below with the developer message from the all in one tool kit and goes black in 4 seconds. I can put the phone in recovery or I can return to the twrp page where you make changes. the phone is fully charged with green light and the pc will see the phone.
hope this information helps.

Ah, well I thought that some of my colleagues might move your posts, but it's a big forum and there are only so many of us :)

So what I suggest is that you ask for help here: (AT&T) One XL - All Things Root - Android Forums. That should be the best place to get advice on this specific phone. Explain everything you did and what happened as far as you remember (don't worry about too much detail - any incidental fact may turn out to be helpful), and what you are trying to do, and somebody there should be able to point you to the files you need.

Good luck :)

Sorry about the late response you guys:)
I hope this forum will suffice as I cannot find---at the moment-- a forum for the HTC One X for ATT rooting:)

Sending p.m.'s to ya in a minute:)

in a nutshell,
1)boot to recovery
2)wipe data/factory reset,wipe cache,wipe dalvik cache
3)reflash your rom
4)boot to fastboot
5)install boot img with following(make sure image is in your adb/fastboot folder):
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(assuming the boot image to be named simply "boot")
6)iff thats successcul,enter
fastboot reboot

i personally do not advocate the use of toolkits,as when things go wrong, youre left without knowledge to manually fix the issues.

let us know if you have any issues, errors, questions about the above process and we will get you sorted :)

im off to work, but ill check in on you later this evening if you dont get some other replys in the meantime :)
