Help Audio Jack Died

IHateMyTreo

Android Expert
I lost the left channel on headphones only. Xoom speakers still work. I have tried three different headphones and left channel is missing on all. So looks like a hardware failure.

Moto wants $150 to repair it, which isn't worth it.

Anyone know of a less expensive repair option?

I'm also interested in tearing it down myself and looking for a loose wire. Are there any tear-down videos out there?

Thanks

Yeah, tried compressed air. It's really clean in general.

I'm tearing it down now and will report back.

Edit: Opened her up. Really easy with the video instructions. Audio jack was easily accessible and is attached to the case rather than the mother board, so that was easy to get to without a full tear-apart. I could see a slightly bent contact arm in the jack. Eased it back into place and bingo, full stereo. Not sure if this will last or if the jack will eventually fail, but I'm good for now.
