Help Audio with earphones plugged in plays into speaker?

I just got the note 3 three days ago. I am using the earphones that came with the note 3, and the audio doesn't play into the earphones, it plays in the speakers. however, when I put the earphones in the jack it gives me a notification saying that the earphones are connected. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Assuming you mean the speaker on the phone when you say "...plays in the speakers," you probably have one of two problems:
1- Earphone jack isn't pushed into the phone far enough. I had this problem, and it was confusing because the phone did indicate that earphones were plugged in. Turned out that my case was interfering with the earphone jack seating correctly --- I fiddled with it for a while, and now it continues to work fine.
2- A bad set of earphones
