Battery life tips (30% after 40 hrs unplugged)

Either something extra is running in the background or my battery got a lot worse since I last posted here. Tried making this thing last me on Saturday this weekend from a full charge (started my day at around 10:30AM when I unplugged it. Little usage, but I kept the GPS on (seemed to be inactive--didn't see satellite symbol). Was with my grandparents and sent like 7 text messages, looked at GPS navigation for 2 minutes and turned it off because I realized I didn't have a car charger, showed my grandparents some pictures I had taken with the phone for a little bit, and used GPS for about 20 minutes where it went down to 15% and told me to plug it into the wall...

I'm sorry, all of you guys who tell me "oh you used so much power doing this and that," shut it. This was MINIMAL-MODERATE USE. My blackberry which I thought had a terrible battery could have lasted longer and that phone only lasted a day. BTW--15% was at 5PM.

In "Email settings" you can do this to save battery life:

- Menu
- Data delivery
- Email and corporate sync
- Email delivery
- UNCHECK Data push
- Fetch schedule, select Every 4 hours

It reads this under Data push: If push is turned off or not available the device will use the fetch schedule instead. I don't remember, but I think the factory setting is to fetch every 15 minutes. Meaning it will check for new email every 15 minutes using battery life. Determine how frequently you want it to check for email and make your own decision. ANYTHING less than (how often it checks for mail) will certainly help preserve battery life.

As others have said, keep a USB cord handy to charge on your computer if you are able to and have a car charger to help keep your phone charged in the car. I have read in other forums that the Droid will NOT overcharge when plugged in

I'm probably going to let it drain out and charge it up while off once more just for good measure. I'd def. suggest those with new phones let it die out completly the first night and charge it back up while off. Really helps out.

go to amazonor ebayand buy spares, i have one in wallet...at desk...mine and wifes cars...they are OEM for $7 or less...then you do not have a battery problem...also for $10 or so you can get an external charger
