Battery Upon Arrival?

I just open the box, hit the power button and nothing! Plugged it in and a few minutes later it booted. 15 minutes later, the battery was at 0% charged. Finally a few minutes later the battery is up to 2%.

I have to admit, I was getting worried. I have never had a device come in without at least a little of a charge. Message says I can't upgrade to 4.1.1 because the battery is too low.

I wish I was not at work so I could explore :D

When you plug the charger in to the N7 are there any lights that come on? Mine does nothing. I charged it for three hours and it still will not power on.

Mine came at about half. You should always charge the thing to full and let it sit for a few hours the first time anyway before using it.

What I have been told is that I should use it until battery is at 0%, and then charge it until it's full.

The quick start guide recommends to charge it as soon as possible after unboxing. My 201 recommended to do the same but leave it on for 8 hours afterwords.

In the end its up to you - I didn't let it decharge first though

If the manual says so, then I guess it must be the right thing to do.

I have another question. Do you have to turn it off and then charge the battery? Or can you just charge it while it is turned on?

Presumably it charges faster if it is turned off, but you can use it while it is charging (though with the stock charger and USB cable, you have to use it really near a power outlet since the cable is kind of short).

Mine took about 4 hours to fully charge, but there was no indication it got charged other than looking at the lock screen to see if it still said xx% or finally said "charged".

Anyone else agree with this? I was going to do that at first but want to take mine to work for break tonight, so I took it off and decided to use it until it gets near 0% then charge it. But on the otherhand the manual does say what it says... so I'll probably plug it in to charge to 100% once I get home tonight.

Got mine today :D around 60% battery

30%.

After charging for an hour and a half its at 82%. That was charging powered off.

I'm not using their charger, using a 2 amp charger from my HTC phone. Went from 40% to 53% in about 30 minutes.

Which phone do you have?
I thought the Nexus 7 came with a 2 AMP charger. Even in the description in the Play Store it says:

What's In The Box
DC 5V/2A Nexus 7 Charger (For use in the United States only)
USB Cable

Yes I know, it states that on the side of the wall unit. I have an HTC Rezound with 2A charger so I'm just using that. I have a couple of other 1.5A and 2A chargers from other phones in the past. I just grab one and go, but of course the 1.5A chargers take much longer to get to full charge my phone, so it would take a long time to charge the Nexus 7 too.

I'll check the charger maybe the voltage is different, but shouldn't matter much.
