BetterCut problem

I just purchased BetterCut for my Eris, but whenever I go to add a shortcut using a custom icon from Gloss, nothing shows up on the home screen. I'm guessing it just isn't adding it. Does anybody have any reasons why it's doing that and possible solutions? I need to figure out if I can use it within 24 hours, so I can get my money back if I can't.
