BGR: HTC Phone in France, Similar Looking to the Dragon

Mapex

Newbie
HTC Touch.B aka Rome spotted in France Boy Genius Report

Compare the pictures to:

Hands-on with the Android-powered 1GHz HTC Dragon

The devices look fairly similar upon a moment's gaze, with a few differences:
-Touch B has a much smaller screen and no trackball
-Haptic buttons are different
-Touch B doesn't have a differently colored band on the back
-Camera lenses are surrounded by different frames/designs
-The location of the HTC logo on the front of the phone is different

I'm not sure if HTC would release two phones that look this similar to each other, but I am not here theorizing about the existence of the Passion/Dragon. This article may or may not affect your beliefs on the subject at hand, however.

Don't see flash, screen looks small. Looks more like an HTC Touch version of an Android phone than a High End. More Eris than anything. Love seeing new phone, but that can't be it.

Even though the Droid Eris is basically a VZW Hero, it is sufficiently different in aesthetic design compared to either the Hero and Tattoo.

The Dragon/Passion isn't that much different looking from this "more official" phone, so if the rumored devices do indeed exist they may be going under a complete overhaul OR the leaked pictures were of an early version of the Touch.B that had its specs lowered over time.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the latter. I don't think we have seen the Dragon/Passion just yet.

I really think the Touch B
&
Passion are two different phones.

We will all find out officially what the deal is sooner or later.

If this phone comes to VZW, and there is still no announcement for the Passion, then I'm going with it (unless the specs are <Eris).

If that was the passion, I'd no longer care about it. I refuse to have a phone without a trackball or D-Pad.

New word on the street is... HTC Touch.B aka Rome, not Running Android After all? | Android Community

Which makes sense given the non androidian buttons on the bottom. It does look handsome though, imo.

also cool is this story: HTC Touch Pro2 rated second in Consumer Reports

nice that an HTC device won 2nd prize. Makes me even more eager to see what their flagship Android will be like.

I too actually like the look of the hTc Touch B.

Glad the article surfaced earlier; it put the nail in the coffin on the rumor that had started to float around that the Touch B, could have possibly been the "passion"
