Root Black SMS zip question

I used to have the black SMS zip on my old elite but when I had it the mms wouldn't work so I had to go back to the stock.
But my question is if that issue has been fixed, or if there is a different one I could flash..
P.S. I know there is ones on the Play Store but I don't like have 2 SMS apps on my phone..

I use Handcent and removed the stock app. You can customize the colors in Handcent however you want.

You can just freeze it if you want but you don't need the stock app as long as you have something else.

I just uninstalled it, now it seems like my text notifications from Handcent come faster Thanks!
