bringing dead battery back to life

So I had this battery that was dead dead.like I could plug my phone to the charger and it wouldn't recharge.so yesterday while I was charging a new replacement phone after the charge was done and with the phone off I quickly swiped the batteries.it took a couple tries but I got it.its a small window like 2 or 3 seconds that the phone will still think battery is there.I charged the old one for over 9 hrs but it never fully charged.it stopped at 95% when I turned on the phone.

Ok my bad lol the battery crashed with 5% still left on cm7 but it ran for 5 hrs was using GPS Bluetooth net email and phone
