Root Cannot re-root after update

Downloaded the update yesterday, and lost the root which I expected. Unfortunately, the shabby penguin all-in-one root that I had used before did not work this time. Has anybody found a work-around to get root back?

The same thing happen to me and still searching for answers

I did the same thing updated to 2.3.5 on my Sprint Photon and lost my root. Does anyone know if you do a factory data reset if I can get 2.3.4 back and the root the phone again and get superuser rights?

Just downloaded the foxfi app from their website (Not play store) and it works fine for me to hotspot my Sprint Photon with 2.3.5 software.

You need to use Photon Torpedo. XDA has instructions on how to do it. I have yet to accept the update, waiting to see what shakes out in root-world first.

Lots of people on XDA have, from the looks of it. There may be a potential problem if you used Photon Torpedo to root it before (something about write permissions) but also lots of reports of success. Personally I'm waiting to see if MOF releases an updated build of his locked ROM before I do anything.

Still haven't found anyone that has confirmed if they have personally been able to root since the update. If anyone has been able to please let us know which method was successful.

I updated to 2.3.5 as well recently. Before I used the one-click root, but that was not working. I tried the torpedo method with complete success.

This won't help anyone who has already updated, but I am thinking that the free OTA RootKeeper app will keep you rooted across the update. Or, if you have the excellent SuperSU app, it has an option to do the same thing.

I would know if the solution these apps offer worked, if I, uh... Didn't have issues installing the update itself.

I am not a wiz at terminal emulator, but I can follow directions. I followed the directions in this link and am now rooted again - Motorola Photon 4G: How to Root Your Phone

Now, I just need to do my homework so I can flash JellyBean.

I followed the instructions as well and everything went great. I am running 2.3.5 and the instructions were very easy to follow.
