Cannot revive my Nexus 7!

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting this in the right place!
My problem is this......I've had my Nexus 7 for 16 months and just started having this problem...it will not turn on. I was using my tablet a few days ago, it was around 70% charged, then went to bed and shut down my tablet. When I went to switch it back on the next day....nothing! I cannot even get the screen to show dead battery icon etc, just total blackness
I looked it up online and it seems to be a common problem, and lots of people suggesting to do the long press holding down the power button for over 30secs, or holding the power and volume down button 30 secs....apparently it works for most people, I tried it a million times and it doesn't work for me , I tried following the troubleshooting steps on the google software tech support site, still no luck...tried connecting it to my laptop via usb, it says device not recognised. I even ended up ringing the google tech support and still could not fix this. The charger is the proper branded one that came with the tablet, and I know it works fine as it has been used to charge other items, also tried using 3 different plug sockets, but nope I'm getting nothing!!
I know my warranty expired as it's over a year old, so want to try and avoid having to send for repairs etc.
Please can anyone help as I am tearing my hair out here!???!!!

You have nothing to lose by gently popping open the back cover and checking/test the battery.

A quick Google search will reveal the process in both Web and YouTube videos.

Try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes then plug back in and see if device will charge.

If that does not work test the battery with a meter for voltage, replace if necessary.

Hey, thanks for the reply...I've already tried taking the back off but everything inside is taped down and all the components are fixed down, can't disconnect the battery as I don't want to risk doing any damage. Thanks anyway

Investigating my problem (might be related to yours, but mine might be the usb jack) I came across the youtube vids that remove the back and unplug the battery for a bit. Very easy to do (the battery plug shouldn't be taped down). I'd try it. Apparently the battery position could make the wires so taught as to unplug the battery over time. If that is the case, a longer term solution is to move the battery nearer the plug by 1/16" or so, but that would require you to remove the battery to reposition -- not tough to do either, but not as simple as unplugging the battery.

Sadly I went through that, and mine was one of the special ones that wouldn't be revived. Fortunately mine was still under warranty at the time and I was able to have it repaired. Was about a 2 week turn around time, though I'm not sure how worth it would be if paying out of pocket, there was no dollar figure to be found in my case.

Have you tried just leaving it plugged in for like 2 days. Maybe somehow your battery lost charge completely?

I mean who knows at this point. I know my N7 has died multiple times and I have had to leave it plugged in for a few days and it finally comes back to life.

Having same problem with mine. I tested my battery and I'm getting 4.14 v while the battery is in and on. I tested again and got 0.92 V with it in and on. I know it's powered on, but yet the screen doesn't come on because the processor is hot even after it has been off the charger for over 2 hours. With the battery out, I get 4.16 v. Also, my computer lists it as an apx device.
