Help Can't move apps or pics to new SD

I just bought a Sandisk Ultra Class 10 MicroSD Card, but when I try to move apps or pics to the card I get an error message like this: No applications can move to SD card.
No clue what is wrong. As a recent convert from Apple to Android I am really confused.
All tips are most appreciated.

Format the card as a FAT32 partition. IF that doesn't work, it's possible that you have a defective card. Sandisk is pretty good about replacing bad-out-of-the-box cards.

I hate to admit it but am sure how to format the card. I will check this out on Google.
