can't update to 4.4.4

Zegami

Newbie
Got 4.4.3 rooted with cwm recovery (stock ROM) and basically my phone downloads the system update then reboots into cwm recovery, then the update installation aborts, and when my phone boots up again I go to system update and it says no new updates available but I'm on 4.4.3

The only way I can get it to download the update again is to do a wipe, but then again it.downloads the update but aborts installation.

Can I get some help?

Thanks

Download the update and save a copy pf the zip somewhere to avoid having to download it again later, then install Scary Alien's OTA Verifier app and use it to check whatever is causing the update to abort.

Once you have that information we can take it from there.

Incidentally you may also want to look at Scary's Android Root Toolkit app which can avoid the loss of root during the OTA.

Last night was crazy, had a few rootbeers, bricked my phone a few times, tried some ROMS, but ended up getting 4.4.4 from google, and now I have a stock 4.4.4 ROM WITH root and no custom recovery lol (will add custom recovery later today)

Btw, if you do a factory reset through phone while you have custom recovery, will it brick your phone like it used to with the old optimus phones? or not since these phones have built in memory.

Nope, factory reset is perfectly fine (well, aside from losing all your data :D ).

Note that a Factory Reset / Data Wipe on a stock ROM or recovery will erase your "sdcard" as well; community-built ROMs and recoveries wipe /data without erasing your make-believe SD card.
