Help Captivate looses call capability until reboot is performed

Hi every so often and without indication my Galaxy S Captivate AT&T is unable to make calls (no bars ) and I am in an area where coverage is always excellent. When I do a soft reboot the phone capabilities are restored. I was wondering it this has happened to anyone else and if there is a solution . Thanks
