Can somebody recommend a good car charger?

Personally I love the car dock. At first I did not think it was getting a good charge from the blue-tooth charge, but I noticed the battery was constantly getting hot and that charged seemed to either stop or charge really slow. I have since moved it off of my windshield and into my center console and the charge was awesome. I have about a 15 minute drive to/from work, and this evening it charged from 38% to 54% while I had the music player running through my car stereo.

Honestly, I had an old Motorola charger with the Micro USB port and it works perfectly.

Comes in VERY handy when we have my Nexus One, wife's iPhone, my Zune and her BT hearing aid device to all charge at once on long trips.

I picked up a charger designed for a Motorola that had the micro usb on it. I got mine at Fry's electronics for $15.

$0.55, and I bet the shipping will be $4.95 or something...

I HATE HATE HATE Amazon... They suck you in with these low prices and charge you 500%+ in shipping charges, where you can get it for the same price, with faster shipping...

When I order something, and they tell me it's going to be almost 3 weeks to have it shipped from California, when I am in Washington State, that's insane... I NEVER order anything from Amazon, damn crooks...

The OEM wall chargers are 5v1A. You want something with at least that. IIRC, the plug with the car mount is higher... Possibly 1.5A. I too lazy to run to the car, but I know most other crap out there is .25A-.5A.

In an emergency, I'll plug my jawbone into it and it hasn't fried it. I doubt that little thing has a safely from getting too hot.

Also, FWIW, the slower you charge the cooler the charge, the faster the charge the hotter. more Amp at 5V will be faster and hotter. Low amps might not keep up with the drain on the phone if you are using GPS etc...So if you can find a higher Amp plug also look for a ac vent mount for the phone. These phone will go into protection mode if they get too hot and wont charge.

Moral of the story. Read the small print on the charges, they are not all the same. you will pay for a good one.

Funny, I have never had any of those problems. You need to shop around to watch for shipping costs, but thats the way it goes. Shipping time is usually on point. Remember that amazon is full of third party vendors, and they can suck. Amazon themselves ship out very fast.

I have got the Nexus one car charger but having one problem with it stops charging the phone if I m using the GPS and when the GPS turns off,then only it will power the phone.Overall its a good car charger for me.

Where do you read 5.3V? 5.0V would be ideal but I believe the USB spec ranges from 4.75 to 5.25V

Very odd indeed. I don't think I'll buy that one then. FWIW, the standard AC adaptor is rated at 5V, which makes sense.
