Help Changing Play Store country ... have tried everything!

Hey, I've been trying everything suggest online but still can't change the play store country ... so this post is just a last effort to see if there is any way to do it.
My situation ... bought a Galaxy Note tablet at the airport in the UK, travelled to Sierra Leone where I'm living, loaded it all up, but now a lot of apps say they aren't available in this country. Including Facebook. I have a UK credit card on my google wallet, have changed my country everywhere I can find ... google+, places, etc. I've also tried VPN. No luck with anything.

Is there anyway around this? Or is it indeed located by my IP address? any way to trick it? I don't want to be doing this a lot ... just need some of the basic apps like Facebook!

thanks

Hi

I have never been able to make my French note 2 think it's in England, so all the films and books on playstore are in French

I think your best bet is to find the apk files ( eg facebook.apk)on the Web, download them and install manually. You need to enable unknown sources in security settings.

PS just noticed is your first post! Welcome to the forums :)

Hi
I'm having the same problem, I live in Spain and bought my LG G2 on Amazon in the UK, I have sent a "rude" email to Google play saying I had an iPhone and iTunes didn't throw up this problem I just told it to use the UK store and everything worked.

I have told them I want them to sort out the problem if and when I get a reply I'll post again.

I've been trying everything, VPN, deleting all the info from Play Store and making sure it was all UK located.

I have a Nationwide BS account and it wont even let me download their mobile banking app .......... I really think Google need to sort this out there's a shed load of complaints on the 'net.

I'm not a "Happy Bunny" right now!

Update........ what a crazy situation, I cannot download the Pocket Informant app as it says "it's not available in my country", Spain but it allowed me the download a demo version of the same app, what's the point of a demo version if you decide you like the app but when you want to purchase the actual version of the app you are refused.

I have no doubt that Google will not/never read any posts on here. So the whole situation is ludicrous.

Having given this a little thought maybe it has something to do with app developer saying that the app is for a particular country; I just don't know.

I was led to believe that is to do with which particular country the phone registers itself when it logs on to the Google Play store?????

Given that the UK and Spain are both EU countries you'd have though it wouldn't be a problem, but Mountain View, USA seems to think otherwise. I thought paid apps are available from the Spanish Play Store. You might want to contact the devs, see what they have to say about it.

"Hey Guys,We have changed parts of our system that no longer allow our team to change the default country, and we cannot allow end users to change this on their own for legal reasons.
Ricky"

Apparently Ricky is from Google.

This is something I come against quite often actually, I'm a UK citizen living in China.

BTW Google Play is not the only app store....:thumb:

ok, thanks a lot for the reply. To install apps manually do I need to "jailbreak" or "rooted" the tablet?

cheers

Hi again

No you don't need to root the device. Just copy the apk to your phone. Enable unknown sources in security settings and select the apk file using any file manager app. Use the Android installer which should appear as a choice of app to use when you select the file.

Using a different app store is an easier solution if you find one that works for you.
