Clarification of Keyboards on myTouch

So, I was playing with the Merlot myTouch today exercising extreme discipline in not instantly purchasing the phone.

The thing I noticed was the virtual keyboard was a bit wonky. In landscape mode, I would click on the username box for this website and the keyboard appeared. I enter my username and hit enter.... I then go to the password field and same thing. Except when it returns to the page, the username is cleared.

It worked find in portrait mode except when I logged into this site, I got a blank page.

In landscape mode if you hit the back arrow button on the phone to go back to the webpage your entry will still be there.
