Help "Connection Lost ... Verizon Wireless"

Why is my phone constantly giving this vocal notification out? It is constantly searching for a signal? It happens about once an hour, and I'm guessing it's the source of my battery drain issues the last day or 2.

Search for a, "Settings > Sounds Settings > Service Alerts > ERI," and toggle it off to disable the audible alert. The setting location probably won't be identical to what I gave, as I'm working off a different and older phone to find the setting, but it should be called something similar if it exists for the Droid X.

As far as low signal issues draining your battery are concerned: There are other threads where myself and others have already stated possible fixes to various potential faults causing the overall issue. Here are the links to the threads where you can get a detailed read.

Sorry to just link you, but I didn't exactly feel it was necessary to repeat what has already been said here on the forum. Not all of these threads have definite answers in them however, so I'll sum some things up and give what I think might be good advice to try out.

1.) Try updating your roaming capabilities by dialing *228 and choosing option #2.
2.) Walk around, with your phone in-hand and on, the area where this phenomena seems to occur most often. Make a mental note if it happens again anywhere. If it doesn't, lock the device and let it sit on standby. See if it happens a little while later. Fiddle with this idea a bit if you want.
3.) Try calling up Verizon and asking them to check the towers in your immediate area. Sometimes a tower may be having an issue or needs to simply be tweaked.
4.) If all else fails, you can request that Verizon send you a free repeater that you can hook up to your broadband. I recommend mentioning this when asking about the cell towers.

There might be something else that I can suggest, but this is all that I can think of off the top of my head.

Let us know if anything changes, (preferably for the better, ofc).
