Its a limitation of gmail. If you use SyncMyPix to sync facebook images, you'd see great quality. What then happens is your android contacts sync the images back to gmail.com, where they get converted into low res and sync'd back to your phone. Really annoying.

Possibly but having google contacts is a good thing.
I haven't found any satisfactory work around.
Best was turn off contact auto sync. Manually sync them once a week or so, then replace all the contact images. This really is one of my biggest let downs of android.
